This regatta may have been the toughest that our team has ever partaken in. The hardships each athlete has taken tripled and the physical and mental demand we asked for pushed them to the bodily limit. Unlike past regattas where we registered as a University Mixed crew, we also had each athlete paddle in the U24 Mixed, Women, and/or Open division at the regatta. Our athletes paddled back to back, to back to back races for three straight days in a row. What a way to celebrate Canada Day eh.
The results of their resilience were acknowledged this weekend through hardware. With only two practices in the books, our Women and Open boats both won bronze in their divisions. Us coaches could not be more proud of their achievement, setting a strong precedent for our future women and open rosters.
